Admission

Following a new birth, an infant is issued with an Xtag, the design allows easy fitting with a simple yet comfortable strap onto the ankle, the nurse then types the ID number of the tag into the administration software, additional information IE mothers name etc. are added at this time, from this time forward the tag is continuously monitored by the system.

Signing Out (off watch)

Should the infant require moving to another part of the hospital IE for tests, they are simply "signed out", this is a simple procedure, and is simply completed
at one of the PC's, a nurse or administrator simply types in their password, selects the infants record from the list and clicks "change status" this removes the infants tag from the system temporarily allowing the infant to me moved out of the "safe area".A log event is created in the computer showing which infant was signed out, the time & date and the operator completing the procedure. When the infant returns to the "safe area" the same procedure is followed to "sign in" again, alternately the software can be set to sign a tag in automatically as soon as it is detected again within the "safe area", this can reduce administration of the system still further.

Discharge

Following the infants stay within the facility, the "discharge" routine is simple to administer, this is completed from one of the PC's by a nurse or administrator, simply by entering their password and selecting the infants record from the list, then clicking "discharge".The software again stores a log event showing which infant was discharged and the administrator completing the procedure. This routine removes the tag from the system along with the infants record, freeing the tag to be sterilised and re issued to another infant. The strap is designed to be disposable for maximum hygiene within the post natal unit.Should an average stay for an infant in post natal care be 24 hours, a typical tag will be re used 450 - 500 times before its high power battery is exhausted, for maximum flexibility the tags sleep when not attached to an infant to ensure the lifespan of the tag battery is maximised.
