KTR wins National Distributor of the Year 2009

KTR are proud to announce that we have won CarePlus Distributor of the Year for 2009.

After an exciting beginning to the year KTR are proud to have achieved such an esteemed award for supply and service of the new CarePlus products. General Manager Paul Caron accepted the award presented by Andrew Rothon and Nathan Buzzer. Managing Director of KTR, Duncan Hart said “It was a real reflection of a great team headed by our General Manager Paul Caron working with a superior product which allowed us to make such inroads into the healthcare industry with a new innovative product in such a short time.

At KTR we are proud of team and thank them for their support”.  Paul along with the sales team has moved forward into the market with now 19 active new sites operating with CarePlus in Victoria. Ultimately it means we are moving old generation nurse call systems into the future with the new 3rd generation CarePlus Nurse Call system.

KTR Security Commander

Security Commandment

Cardinia Shire Council has upgraded its existing Challenger access control and alarm system with UTC’s new Security Commander management software and a TruVision DVR. The system was integrated by KTR Group with assistance from UTC Fire & Security and Council’s own IT team.

KTR Group is a key integrator of Challenger solutions in Victoria. The company KTR Group was founded in 1968 by Ken and Trudy Hart and is now managed by their son, Duncan Hart and daughter, Michele Birtchnell. The brother and sister team is highly focused with a noticeable customer-service orientation and it’s immediately obvious they’ve enjoyed being part of the Security Commander beta process at Cardinia Shire Council. Maintenance Standards Critical Care

Maintenance Standards for Critical Areas in Victorian Health Facilities

On Friday 12th march 2010 KTR attended the Institute of Hospital Engineers of Australia (IHEA) launch of the new “Maintenance Standards for Critical Areas in Victorian Health Facilities” a joint initiative with the Victoria Government held at the Charles Latrobe Lecture Theatre at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.  This document has been released with the intent to provide a guideline for routine maintenance of critical areas in hospitals.

Speakers at the launch included Mr. Deane Wilks, Safety, Quality and Patient Experience Branch, Dept of Health, Dr. Lorraine Wilson, Safety Quality and Patient Experience Branch, Dept of Health, Mr. Kevin Moon Facilities Engineering, Mr. Phil Wilkinson Australian Institute of Refrigeration  Air Conditioning and Heating and Mr. Damien Parker, Bendigo Health.
The aims and objectives of these standards are;

  • To clarify, standardize and formalize minimum standards and requirement for the maintenance of building services, such as air conditioning and ventilation system in high risk patient areas within health facilities
  • To increase efficiencies and articulate line of responsibility for health facility maintenance departments
  • To enhance the reporting capacity of health facility maintenance departments on compliance and validation
  • To increase health facility maintenance departments contribution to internal quality improvement repairs and processes.

Maintenance Standards User Group

IHEA will shortly be releasing an Expression of Interest for any IHEA members who would like to be a part of the Maintenance Standards User Group. The initial meeting is scheduled to be held at the end of April 2010. The User Group will be reviewing the document and standard implementation and future development of the guidelines.
